MARCO ISLAND SENIOR SQUADRON CIVIL AIR PATROL
PO Box 225
Marco Island, FL 34146
Dear Friends and Neighbors of the Marco Island Squadron, Civil Air Patrol (CAP)
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! For the past three years, after Hurricane Irma made landfall and destroyed our hangar, we have been focused on the rebuilding effort, which was only possible by a grant from FEMA and the generous contributions by valued supporters of the squadron. We are very happy to report that as of August 21st the new hangar is complete and totally operational. The total cost of this rebuild was just over $500,000 and we thank you for your past support in this effort.
During this three-year timespan, we were fortunate to be able to maintain mission readiness and training by utilizing a small T-hangar provided by the Airport Authority. Although our hangar was destroyed, we had the capability of maintaining operations in the office/radio room section of our building which received only minimal damage from the hurricane.
Since 1981, the Marco Island Civil Air Patrol Squadron has been a valued resource serving Marco Island, the Ten Thousand Islands, Collier County, and Southwest Florida. The squadron has served this community and nation by providing service to the local community that includes search & rescue, and disaster assessment. For example, Marco Squadron members participated in photo reconnaissance and damage assessment missions during the BP oil spill; following all Florida hurricane disasters; and provided an aircrew to Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria.
The Marco Island Civil Air Patrol Squadron is a group of over 55 volunteers who give their time, talents, and personal financial resources to participate in this organization. CAP provides the squadron’s assets (planes, vehicles, and building). However, we are charged with most of the operating costs and all of the building maintenance and upkeep, which are significant.
Please consider a contribution to help fund our operations. With your help and support, we can continue to serve Southwest Florida for many years to come. Any amount you can donate will be greatly appreciated. Please make your check payable to Marco Island Civil Air Patrol, PO Box 225, Marco Island, FL 34146. We ask that if you wish to note your contribution, simply indicate “CAP Donation” on your check.
The Civil Air Patrol is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Contributions are deductible for federal income tax purposes in accordance with applicable laws.
Thank you and best regards,
Robert Nager, Lt Col, CAP
